Donna McDonnell

Born and raised in Ottawa Ontario, Donna created art in one form or another for as long as she can remember, and always felt the challenge and excitement of trying to draw and paint what she was seeing in the world around her. She studied life drawing at the Banff School of Fine Arts and took art courses in Calgary and Ottawa in various subjects and media. After a career in nursing, she graduated from Algonquin College in graphic design in 1989, winning numerous awards and finishing top student in her class. She was employed as a graphic designer and illustrator in Ottawa and Kingston for over 12 years before moving west to Qualicum Beach in 2006.

Donna works primarily in soft pastel, but also in oil and water media, always striving to be true to her subjects, inspired by mood, colour, textures and light.

She is an award winning Signature member of of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA), a member of the Arrowsmith Chapter of the AFCA, and a member of Pastel Artists Canada (PAC).

Her drawings and paintings are in private collections across Canada.

Donna is currently on sabbatical.
